    Chris is a classically-trained designer and typographer, and self-taught pressman. He completed his MFA in Design at Yale School of Art where he was first introduced to letterpress and traditional printing methods. Chris enjoys fretting over the details and coaxing beauty from ink and paper.

    Danielle is a fearless editor and etiquette expert. She has a Masters in Communication and has lived in the South longer than she hasn’t. Danielle has a keen eye for fine presswork and ensures every piece we produce measures up to our exacting standards.

Vandercook No. 3 Proof Press

Our first press: A Vandercook No. 3 Proof Press

We started our journey with the acquisition of a simple Vandercook cylinder press in 1998. Over the years, we have acquired more machines, including a fully-restored Heidelberg 10 x 15 Platen Press (“Windmill”). In 2016, we added foil-stamping capability. Our studio now boasts an impressive array of presses and printing equipment, all meticulously maintained and loved.

 

Old North State Press is located in Waxhaw, NC, south of Charlotte, and surrounded by horse farms.
